Social media, these days, is becoming a big ache for people. As digital citizens, one of the most terrifying things is online identity theft. And Selena Gomez is one such target of this theft and also the latest celebrity to fall prey to it.

If we go by the reports, Selena’s email ID was hacked by a woman in New Jersey. The prosecutor has claimed that this woman, Susan Atrach, had accessed Selena’s and her associate’s accounts multiple times from June 2015 to February 2016. The alleged culprit then stole her digital property. She also stored the media which she had shared with others and also the ones posted on social media.

The culprit was charged with five felony counts of identity theft, accessing and using computer data to commit fraud or to control or obtain money, property or data. Also, she is charged for accessing and using computer data or taking supporting documentation without permission. And as per the latest updates, she faces almost a maximum sentence of 10 years if she is convicted.
