Shawn Levy To Direct Uncharted Movie?

The trend of making cinematic adaptations based on video games continues as Sony Pictures proceeds with an ‘Uncharted’ movie. Gamers would be well aware of the epic game series that is exclusive to Sony’s platform, the Playstation. Now, Deadline has reported that the studio has roped in Shawn Levy to direct the project.

Shawn is known for his films ‘Night at the Museum’ and ‘Real Steel’. His most recent work includes the hit TV show ‘Stranger Things’ for which he sits in the executive producer’s chair. Shawn also directed two episodes in the season. The 'Uncharted' project has been brought back on track after it was recently removed from Sony’s release calendar.

Uncharted revolves around a treasure hunter named Nathan Drake who is a descendent of explorer Sir Francis Drake. Though the video game series has seen four instalments, the movie will be based on the first part, ‘Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune’. Joe Carnahan will be writing the script for the adaptation which does not have a final release date as of yet.
