She was an incredible writer, with an incredible mind: Rian Johnson Talks About Carrie Fisher

The Star Wars Celebration event was recently held in Orlando where the cast, along with director, Rian Johnson, was present to talk about the newly released trailer of ‘The Last Jedi’. The trailer has caused a frenzy on the internet as fans have been admiring and talking about it, ever since its release on April 14. While talking about the trailer, the director also spoke about late actress Carrie Fisher, whose character in the franchise is quite pivotal.

Rian revealed that Carrie helped him in rewriting the screenplay for the eighth installment, ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’. “I'd go to her house and sit on her bed for hours, and we'd go through the script... I love her so much. I just adore her. I connected with her first and foremost as a writer. She was an incredible writer, with an incredible mind”, said the director.

He also had a defining phrase for his meetings with Carrie. He describes them as a “stream of consciousness, jazz poetry ad-lib sessions”. Carrie plays the role of Princess Leia Organa and will also be present in the upcoming film as she completed her part before her death on December 27 last year. ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ will hit theatres on December 15.
