    Spider-Man: Homecoming swings into Indian theatres with Rs 42 crore at the box office

    India continued to show love to Spider-Man, the country’s favourite superhero, who swung into theatres with his new film, Spider-Man: Homecoming, on July 7. The film has earned an impressive Rs 42 crore, outgrossing local films, Sridevi’s Mom, and Paresh Rawal’s Guest Iin London.

    According to industry analyst Ramesh Bala, Spider-Man: Homecoming made $6.5 million in its opening weekend in India, which amounts to Rs 42 crore. Mom made Rs 14.40 crore in three days, according to analyst Taran Adarsh and Guest Iin London could only manage Rs 4.8 crore in two days.

    Spider-Man has always been a popular character in India. Three of the top ten Hollywood films of all time in India are Spider-Man films: 2007’s Spider-Man 3 is at number 7 on the list, while 2012’s The Amazing Spider-Man is at number 9 and its sequel, 2014’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2, is at number 10.

    Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff voiced the lead role in the Hindi dubbed version of the film.

    Spider-Man: Homecoming opened to $257 million worldwide in its opening.
