    Spielberg to direct big screen adaptation of Ready Player One

    Steven Spielberg, one of the most popular and influential filmmakers in the history of Hollywood, is set to direct the cinematic adaptation of popular sci-fi novel, Ready Player One. Warner Bros. will dish out the silver screen adaptation in collaboration with Village Roadshow. “We are thrilled to welcome Steven back to Warner Bros.”, said Greg Silverman, president, Creative Development and Worldwide Production, Warner Bros. Pictures. He further added, “We had an historic series of collaborations in the 80s and 90s and have wanted to bring him back for years. As for Ready Player One, we have always felt that Steven was the dream director for this project".

    Based on the novel by Ernie Cline, the film revolves around a young outcast named Wade Watts, who escapes from his daily menial work by logging onto a game called 'The Oasis'. And, how the game brings him to action post the demise of The Oasis' billionaire founder, which makes his life topsy-turvy.

    The cast and the release dates for the film have not yet been announced.
