Star Trek 3 Shooting in Dubai

The third instalment in the Star Trek rebooted franchise will be filming scenes in Dubai. Dubai Film and TV Comission (DTFC) has said that the shooting will start in October this year and will be releasing in July next year. Dubai Media Office, Dubai Tourism and Commerce and Marketing (DTCM), and the Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) will help in the making of the film.

Jamal Al Sharif, Chairman of Dubai Film and TV Commission and Managing Director of Dubai Studio City said, “This production will also provide a great opportunity for local talent to acquire new skills, and gain first-hand insight into the techniques and processes required for a film of this size”. CEO of Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing, Issam Kazim, also shared his views on the issue. He said, “The city's world-renowned architecture, diverse landscapes and attractions are proving increasingly attractive to filmmakers and we are seeing Dubai gain a reputation as a world-class filming location”.

Star Trek Beyond will be released on July 8, 2016 in the U.S. It will be directed by Justin Lin who is known for his Fast and Furious films. Doug Jung and Simon Pegg will be writing the script. The movie will feature Zoe Saldana, Sofia Boutella, Chris Pine, Idris Elba and Zachary Quinto, among others.
