Stephen Root to play Zack Efron’s father in Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates

Stephen Root has been cast into Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates. The 63-year-old actor will be essaying the role of Zack Efron’s father in the film. Root is well known for his performances in Office Space and Dodgeball.

The film follows the story of two party loving brothers. The duo, post an online ad looking for wedding dates, only to find their match in character’s portrayed by Anna Kendrick and Aubrey Plaza. The movie will be helmed by Jake Szymanski.

The flick is slated for release on July 8, 2016. It also features Anna Kendrick and Aubrey Plaza. Chernin Entertainment will produce the film along with Jonathan Levine, while 20th Century Fox executive Daria Cercek will oversee the project for the studio. Root can currently be seen on AMC’s Turn and Fox’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
