Steve Coogan, John C. Reilly Roped In For Laurel & Hardy Biopic

The Laurel & Hardy biopic will star Steve Coogan and John C. Reilly for the role of Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy. The movie will be titled Stan & Ollie and will be based in 1953, the duo’s last U.K. tour. Jon S. Baird will direct the biopic.

Jeff Pope who has written the screenplay for the film stated, “When I watch their movies, in my head it is forever a Saturday morning and I am six years old watching the TV at home utterly spellbound. I am aware of the huge responsibility of bringing their characters to life, but I have not treated the boys with kid gloves or looked at them through rose coloured specs. They are living and breathing characters, with flaws and shortcomings. The research into this story threw up so many details and facts that I had no idea about. But everything I have done has come from a place of love and more than anything else I hope this shines through”.

Steve Coogan is known for his roles in Philomena and Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa. John C. Reilly is known from films like Step Brothers and Guardians of the Galaxy. Laurel & Hardy are known comedy double act. The movie will shine light on their career later on in life, with their golden years behind them.
