Steven S. DeKnight To Helm Pacific Rim Sequel

Deadline has reported that Steven S. DeKnight will be making his feature film directing debut with Pacific Rim 2, the sequel to the 2013 film Pacific Rim. The original was directed by Guillermo del Toro and it was expected that the director will return for the sequel as well. Taking to twitter, Guillermo revealed that Steven S. DeKnight has been chosen to direct the film.

Steven has previously directed one episode of the TV series Daredevil and written three of them. He has also created the show Spartacus: War of the Damned. The original pooled in $411 million worldwide and starred Charlie Hunnam, Rinko Kikuchi and Idris Elba.

Initially, Universal Pictures had booked April 7, 2017 as the release date for the film but it was then pushed to August 4, 2017. Another update on the schedule showed that the movie has been removed from their calendar altogether. Now the Steven has joined the team, it seems that the film will get back on the calendar.
