Susan Sarandon: Mediocrity Is Rewarded In Hollywood

Veteran Hollywood actress Susan Sarandon recently said that it is 'mediocrity' which is rewarded in the industry. The actress was in London for promoting her new documentary, Bombshell: The Hedy Lamarr Story, when she made this statement. Directing her remark to Lamarr she also stated, “it's certainly not a requirement to be smart in my business”.

The actress further added, “Mediocrity is rewarded time and time again. A lot of the time you're hired because you don't ask questions. It takes more time to ask questions, it takes more time to fight for something with integrity”. The actress had earlier received an Academy Award for her performance in the film Dead Man Walking in the year 1995.

Further, she was also involved in the #MeToo movement. As per a leading daily the actress also said, “It's very complicated, in my business especially, because it's all about your sexual currency”. She said that it is not right to slut-shame somebody for embracing their seductiveness.
