After which the actor wrote the script for Rocky and rose to fame. As reported by People magazine, Sylvester said he was surprised to not get the role of an Italian in the film directed Francis Ford Coppola.

The 69-year-old actor was reported as saying, “I couldn’t even get cast as an Italian. I’ll never forget, there’s a party scene – it’s 300 guests! They said no. I said, ‘What part of me didn’t pass the Italian identification aspect?”.

The actor who received his third Academy Award nomination this year for a supporting role in Creed did not gave up after rejection. He took control of the situation and wrote a screenplay, in which he acted as well. His first movie Rocky received 10 Oscar Nominations at the 1977 Academy awards and bagged the awards for best picture, best director and best film editing.
