Quentin Tarantino now faces a law suit for allegedly stealing the script of his 2012 film Django Unchained from a script called Freedom. Bosses at The Weinstein Company and Columbia Pictures have also been named in the law suit along with Tarantino. The Freedom script was penned by Oscar Colvin, Jr and Torrance J Colvin.

According to the court papers, “Before Django Freeman (Jamie Foxx’s character), there was an escaped slave named Jackson Freeman who desired to purchase his family’s freedom from a malevolent plantation owner”. “Before Dr Schultz (Christoph Waltz’s character), there was Samson, another white man, who would assist Mr Freeman in his efforts to rescue his loved one(s) from slavery”. The director stated that he made the film as a tribute to Sergio Corbucci’s 1966 Italian film Django.

The 2012 film Django Unchained tells the story of a slave named Django Freeman who, with the help of a bounty hunter named Dr. Schultz, sets on a journey to rescue his wife. The movie stars Jamie Foxx as Django and Christoph Waltz as Dr. Schultz. The plaintiffs also branded the director as stating, “I steal from every single movie ever made”.
