Television Presenter Patricia Richardson Decides To Withdraw As Ken Howard’s Replacement

The television veteran Patricia Richardson has withdrawn her name from the presidential race of SAG-AFTRA. Her name was referred through Change.org petition drive, which was launched on Thursday. The actress and television presenter received 46 percent of the vote last August in a fiery electoral challenge to Howard.

Yesteryear actor Ken Howard, who died on Wednesday, had been SAG-AFTRA president since its existence. Patricia has said, “While I really do appreciate the sentiments of the members asking me to run as the next President of SAG-AFTRA my feeling is that when the members elected Ken Howard they also endorsed his party and their philosophy”. She added, “Therefore it seems right to me that Gabrielle Carteris, who is our Executive Vice President and current acting President should assume the rest of Ken’s term as President at our upcoming Board meeting”.

The Screen Actors Guild‐American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) is a union that covers around 160,000 film and television principal. This also includes background performers, journalists and radio personalities worldwide. The organization was formed in year 2012 and is member of America’s largest federation of unions.
