James Gray’s ‘The Lost City of Z’ is based on author David Grann's nonfiction book of the same name. The adventure drama had its world premiere as closing night film on October 15, 2016 at the New York Film Festival. Amazon Studios and Bleecker Street released the film in the United States on April 14, this year.

Starring Sienna Miller, Robert Pattinson and Charlie Hunnam, the film depicts the incredible true story of British explorer Percy Fawcett's adventures in the Amazon. Brad Pitt invited Gray to adapt the book for the big screen. The latest we hear about the flick is that it will hit the theatres in India on May 12.

Touching upon directing the movie, Gray stated, “When I read the book, it seemed almost impossible to make. The story involved the United Kingdom, World War I and, of course, the jungle. I thought, 'Any movie that's going to be worth anything has to cover all three of those big things, and that sounds impossible — so I'd like to try’”.
