The World Loses Another Great Soul, Gene Wilder Dies At 83

Known from his roles in movies like ‘The Producers’ and ‘Young Frankenstein’, comic actor, screenwriter, film director and author Gene Wilder passed away on Sunday at the age of 83. The actor lost his life to complications from Alzheimer’s disease. He kept the disease a secret because he did not want to disappoint the fans.

Mel Brooks, who worked with Gene in ‘The Producers’, ‘Blazing Saddles’ and ‘Young Frankenstein’ gave a statement on Monday which read, “Gene Wilder, one of the truly great talents of our time, is gone. He blessed every film we did together with his special magic and he blessed my life with his friendship. He will be so missed”.

Jim Carrey also took to Twitter and posted, “Gene Wilder was one of the funniest and sweetest energies ever to take a human form. If there’s a heaven he has a Golden Ticket”. Several other celebrities also shared their sorrow through social media platforms.

Gene got his first break in 1963 with the film ‘Mother Courage’ where he shared screen space with Anne Bancroft and met Brooks. Then, in 1967, Brooks and Gene came up with ‘The Producers’ which established them as an ideal comedic duo. The late actor went on to write several screenplays and direct five features.

The news of Gene’s death was confirmed by his nephew on Monday. No funeral arrangements have been announced as of yet.
