It was earlier reported that Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise had been planning to visit the Chinese capital to attend the gala premiere of his latest film Oblivion. And he kept his promise, though in a rush. Tom flew to Beijing to promote his Oblivion prior to its Chinese release.

The actor also honoured his fans by signing autographs while walking the red carpet and according to his fans he was “very easy going." Cruise also expressed his love for the city saying “I Love Beijing” in Mandarin. He also confirmed the fifth installment of the Mission: Impossible franchise while speaking to the Chinese media. But unlike well-planned trip of Robert Downey Jr. to promote Iron Man 3, Tom’s visit was planned on a very short notice.

Cruise’s visit would prove lucky for Oblivion in China in competition with strong-going Iron Man 3. Django Unchained’s second time release on Sunday will also face tough competition with the two at Chinese box-office. Cruise has always been a favourite in China and he is referred to as “Brother Tom” by the Chinese media. His Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol grossed a massive $104.9 million in 2012. Oblivion releases in China today.
