    Tom Hardy to play lead in The True American: Murder and Mercy in Texas adaptation

    Kathryn Bigelow is all set to direct an adaptation of Anand Giridharadas' non-fiction book The TrueAmerican: Murder and Mercy in Texas. The film is to be produced by Annapurna Pictures, the production and distribution company founded by producer Megan Ellison and The Dark Knight Rises star Tom Hardy is said to play the lead role in the movie.

    The book is about an “American terrorist” and a Bangladeshi immigrant. Raisuddin Bhuiyan, a Bangladesh Air Force officer dreams of immigrating to America and working in technology. But days after 9/11, an avowed "American terrorist" named Mark Stroman, seeking revenge, walks into the Dallas minimart where Bhuiyan has found temporary work and shoots him, maiming and nearly killing him. Hardy was earlier seen in notable films like Star Trek: Nemesis, Lawless, Warrior, Inception etc. and currently filming for The Drop, Child 44 and Mad Max: Fury Road.
