34-year-old English actor Tom Hiddleston saw great success with his character ‘Loki’ in the Thor and Avengers flicks. Loki has ranked 19th in Empire magazine’s 100 Greatest Movie Characters. According to the Marvel Universe, Loki was adopted as an infant by Odin. Wanting to be heir to the throne, Loki felt betrayed when Thor, Odin’s biological son, was given the title.

According to the magazine, Tom said, “Within the film industry, the success of the Marvel films has given me incredible opportunities to do other work that I'm very proud of”, he added, “Besides that, I'm just grateful to have been given the chance to play a remarkable character: larger-than-life, deep, complex and relentlessly good fun. He's the god of mischief - in a cinematic universe of superheroes, there's no-one else I'd rather be”.

Tom came to know the character ‘Loki’ while playing a card game when he was young. To portray the god of mischief in the movies, Tom tried to capture the essence of the Loki. He said, “I had to find his smile, his innate love of anarchy and chaos. I had to make his pain real. Great villains are born from tragic circumstances. They become dangerous when their vulnerability hardens into vengeance”.
