Top Gun 2 getting ready to take off

TheTop Gun sequel has been in the works for years, but it looks like the follow-up to Tom Cruise's '80s classic could be getting a boost as a new screenwriter is hired to polish the script. It seems that the release date for Top Gun 2 is still in the air. The movie sequel makes a return after the first movie which featured Maverick and Goose as the top notch aviators that excited audiences all over the globe. That was back in 1986, featuring Tom Cruise in the lead role. "The concept is, basically, are the pilots obsolete because of drones. Cruise is going to show them that they're not obsolete. They're here to stay. It's just getting to the starting place. Fortunately for Tom, he's very busy, so you have to find a slot he can fit into and get a budget that Paramount feels they can make the picture," producer Jerry Bruckheimer said.

According to a source, Justin Marks, who penned Disney and Jon Favreau's upcoming live-action adaptation of The Jungle Book, is in talks to add to the screenplay. Jerry Bruckheimer has given fans hope that the sequel will eventually take off, with the acclaimed producer taking the project to Paramount this spring. The second movie was a longtime passion project of the original director Tony Scott, but following his suicide in 2012 there were fears the film would never make it to cinemas. The movie producer Jerry Bruckheimer claims the lead actor is yet to sign any contract and the rest of the casting is also not confirmed but the movie is definitely pushing through.
