Top Gun 2 Update Straight From Jerry Bruckheimer
Top Gun producer Jerry Bruckheimer has made the first major public movement on the sequel to the blockbuster 1986 film through a twitter post. The movie was the highest grossing film of that year. Tom Cruise played the lead character Pete “Maverick” Mitchell who was a United States Naval Aviator Lieutenant.
Last summer, Tom Cruise spoke to Daily Mail and said, “It would be fun. I would like to get back into those jets. It would have to be practical. I don’t want any CGI jets. I want to shoot it like how we shot the first one”. The producer took to twitter and posted, “Just got back from a weekend in New Orleans to see my old friend @TomCruise and discuss a little Top Gun 2”.
Now, talking about the plot of the film, Jerry revealed, “The concept is, basically, are the pilots obsolete because of drones? [Tom Cruise as Maverick] is going to show them that they’re not obsolete. They’re here to stay”. The new director has not been announced as of yet.
