    ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ Gets A Release Date

    Paramount Pictures has finally announced the release date of the sequel to the 1986 classic ‘Top Gun’. The movie which is titled ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ is slated to hit the theatres on July 12, 2019.  Tron: Legacy filmmaker Joseph Kosinski will be at the helm of affairs for the project.

    Jerry Bruckheimer, who produced the original, will return as the producer for the sequel also. The sequel has been named after Tom Cruise’s code name in the movie. The title has not been given a number as Cruise did not want it to be.

    After essaying the role of Lieutenant Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell, a young Naval aviator in the first part, Tom Cruise gets promoted as a flight instructor in the second part who teaches the young macho pilots how to do it. This is not the first time that Kosinski will be working with Cruise. He has earlier worked with the Mission Impossible actor in 2013 sci-fi drama ‘Oblivion’. Peter Craig and Justin Marks, along with Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz will be doing the screenplay for the movie.
