Tributes Take Over Sunday's Bet Awards

The BET Awards 2016, hosted by Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross, took place on Sunday at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles and it was definitely a night to keep in mind. Tributes poured in for the legends we lost this year, from Prince to Muhammad Ali, and dozens of performances wowed. Perhaps one of the most emotional speeches of the evening came from Humanitarian Award winner, Jesse Williams.

In addition, Grey's Anatomy star Jesse Williams was given the Humanitarian Award, delivering a passionate Black Lives Matter speech, while Samuel L. Jackson received the Lifetime Achievement Award. The Best New Artist winner at the 2015 BET Awards was “Stay With Me” singer, Sam Smith, 24, who outdid other nominees, Bobby Shmurda, 21, Dej Loaf, 25, Fetty Wap, 25, Rae Sremmurd and Tinashe, 23.

Usher also performs on stage at the 2016 BET Awards held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. The 37-year-old artist was joined by Young Thug for their performance of ‘No Limit’ at the award show! Usher wore a “Don’t Trump America” jacket during his performance in a political statement against Donald Trump.
