Trish Sie, who directed the recently released ‘Pitch Perfect 3', has said that people should not take themselves seriously as the world has become a darker place to live. In an interview with Variety, Trish said, "I think it's important to not take ourselves too seriously, both as human beings and women. The world is kind of a dark place right now, (through 'Pitch Perfect 3') we wanted to create something that was a fairy tale and an escape.”

"Putting a darker subversive edge on things feels true to what women are feeling right now. If things got too sweet without a little bit of salt thrown on top, they felt gooey,” she said. She added, "So the writers and I would make notes and say, 'Well, that felt quicksandy', and put a joke -- some off-colour, silly joke to keep things from getting mired in sappiness.”

'Pitch Perfect 3’ released on December 22 featured Anna Kendrick, Anna Camp, Rebel Wilson, Brittany Snow, Hailee Steinfeld, Hana Mae Lee, Ester Dean, Chrissie Fit, Alexis Knapp, John Lithgow, Ruby Rose, Elizabeth Banks and John Michael Higgins. The movie was produced by Elizabeth Banks and her husband Max Handelman. Elizabeth also directed the second instalment of the flick. Mike White penned the script for the movie.
