Two-time Oscar winning director Quentin Tarantino has stated that his upcoming project, The Hateful Eight, has two versions. The special 70mm version will be slightly longer than the regular multiplex version. The 70mm version of the movie will be released on January 8 next year.

Tarantino said, “The roadshow version has an overture and an intermission, and it will be three hours, two minutes. The multiplex version is about six minutes shorter, not counting the intermission time, which is about 12 minutes”. He added that the 70mm version should have something extra, not neglecting the audience watching in the multiplex. “Nor did I want to treat the multiplex release like this left-handed version, either. It was awesome in the bigness of 70, but sitting on your couch, maybe it’s not so awesome. So I cut it up a little bit. It’s a little less precious about itself”, the director stated.

The movie will be the Kill Bill directors eighth feature film and also a follow up, not a sequel, to the 2012 hit Django Unchained. The Hateful Eight will star Samuel L Jackson, Kurt Russell, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Walton Goggins, Bruce Dern and Demian Bichir. The movie will be based in the post-Civil War era.
