Universal Bags Elizabeth Banks, Margot Robbie’s Paper Bag Princess

Latest reports reveal that Universal Pictures has bagged the opportunity to move ahead in making a film based on The Paper Bag Princess, which is the bestselling children’s book. Moreover, Margot Robbie who is co-producing the film might also be seen enacting a role. Writer Katie Silberman has been selected for writing the screenplay.

The story of the book revolves around a princess, who loses her worldly possessions to a dragon on the eve of her wedding. Her prince charming also gets captured. The princess wearing nothing but a paperbag starts chasing to find them both. The book written by Robert Munsch has a strong feminist tension, knocking over the young princess in distress.

Moreover, since its publication in 1980, The Paper Bag Princess has been reprinted 90 times and more than 10 million copies have been sold. The film will be produced under the banner of Brownstone Productions with Max Handelman. Robbie and Tom Ackerley will also bankroll the film. Moreover, Elizabeth Banks is backing the upcoming Charlie’s Angels reboot, which stars Kristen Stewart in the lead role.
