Universal Pictures has brought together Jon Spaihts and Eric Heisserer to come up with a script for the reboot of Van Helsing. The original film starring Hugh Jackman and Kate Beckinsale was released in 2004 and did not perform quite as well as expected. It was directed by Stephen Sommer and followed the character from Bram Stoker’s novel.

Bram came up with the character in 1897 for his novel Dracula. Abraham Van Helsing was the arch enemy of Vampires. The character has been brought to life several times and according to announcements, Syfy will be developing a T.V. series based on the character as well.

The Van Helsing reboot will be produced by Alex Kurtzman who has been associated with the project since the beginning in 2012. It was also announced that Tom Cruise will be part of the project as well but the actor could not star in the film. The movie is planned for a release on March 30, 2018.
