Voila Davis bags role in James Lapine’s Custody

Voila Davis - two- time Oscar nominee - who has made several appearances in supporting roles - will be seen starring in Custody, which is being helmed by Into The Woods writer James Lapine. The 49-year-old will be seen essaying the role of a judge who presides over the custody case of a woman trying to keep her children and how the case takes a toll on her life.

This is the first time that Lapine (66) is donning the director’s hat after his 1993 film Life With Mikey.  The movie is being produced by Lauren Versel and Katie Mustard along with Davis’s production company, Juvee, which is run by her husband Julius Tennon. The flick will also feature Maria Full of Grace star Catalina Sandino Moreno.
