A memorable era in Hollywood is going to end very soon. The Walt Disney Studios and American film producer Jerry Bruckheimer have reached a mutual decision not to renew their agreement when it expires in its scheduled time next year. The non-renewal means one of the most successful partnerships in Hollywood, running since the 1990s, is going to finish soon.

While the studio will continue making films under the Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Lucasfilm banners, Bruckheimer will have more focus on “more mature” films outside the Disney brand. Disney has been always fond of making franchise films targeting not only the big screens but also TV, theme parks and Disney’s consumer products division. HenceBruckheimer’s liking for more adult audience’s films was getting affected a lot. He has been working on such mature films for years including an adaptation of Lorenzo Carcaterra’s 1997 novel Apaches. Disney and Bruckheimer will continue collaborating for various projects including the fifth instalment of Pirates of the Caribbean and National Treasure’s third part. The decision was announced on Thursday evening, much before than the expected time. The decision has been taken after the box-office failure of this summer’s The Lone Ranger with which Disney has run into $190 million losses. Together Disney and Bruckheimer have produced several successful films like the Pirates films, Pearl Harbor, Armageddon, Con Air and The Rock.

Alan Horn, chairman of the Walt Disney Studios, said, “Jerry is one of the most respected and prolific producers working in the motion picture industry, and we have had an incredibly successful collaboration over the past two decades and he is a friend to many of us here at Disney.” “We will continue to work together in the future, and we look forward to seeing more of the films that have made Jerry Bruckheimer a Hollywood legend,” Alan added. Bruckheimeris working on several other projects with other studios likeBad Boys is in development at Sony, Top Gun sequel at Paramount and Beverly Hills Cop is also likely to come up with the studio. The acclaimed producer said, “I am very appreciative of the wonderful collaboration and support I have had at the Walt Disney Company for over twenty years and the 27 movies we have made together.” He added more, “The good news is we will continue working together on ‘Pirates of the Caribbean,’ ‘National Treasure’ and other projects we have developed together at the studio. I am thankful to have had the opportunity to work with these amazing people at The Walt Disney Studios, many of whom have become my good friends. As we continue to make adventure films, we look forward to returning to films like ‘Black Hawk Down,’ ‘Enemy of the State,’ ‘Beverly Hills Cop,’ and ‘The Rock.’”
