    Matt Reeves’ ‘War for the Planet of the Apes’ hit the screens last week and saw an opening weekend of $56 million. Worldwide, the movie has brought in $102 million and has taken the throne, this weekend, which was previously held by ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’. The latter brought in $45 million on its second weekend and has reached a worldwide sum of $469 million.

    The animated flick ‘Despicable Me 3’ earned $18 million on its third weekend. Directed by Pierre Coffin and Kyle Balda, the movie has characters voiced by Steve Carell and Trey Parker, along with others. The third instalment in the Despicable Me franchise has earned $619 million worldwide.

    Edgar Wright’s ‘Baby Driver’ starring Ansel Elgort and Jon Bernthal brought in $8 million on its third weekend. Developed on a production budget of $34 million, the movie has pooled in more than $96 million worldwide. Coming in fifth in the top five list is Michael Showalter’s ‘The Big Sick’. The movie stars Kumail Nanjiani, Zoe Kazan, Holly Hunter and Ray Romano. Running on its fourth weekend, ‘The Big Sick’ has earned $16 million worldwide.
