War Room Hits, We Are Your Friends Misses
Alex Kendrick directorial War Room performed quite well at the weekend box office with its $11 million while Zac Efron’s We Are Your Friends made a mere $1.8 million. War Room was expected to make around $4 to $5 million on its opening weekend but it surprised the filmmakers with such a strong start. The movie was made on a budget of just $3 million.
Topping the charts was Straight Outta Compton for the third week in a row. It has become the first film to stay on top for three weeks after Jurassic World. The rap biopic made $13.2 million, adding up to a total of $134.1 million at the domestic box office.
The third spot was claimed by Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation which made $8.3 million. Following Rogue Nation was the Owen Wilson starrer No Escape which made $8.2 million. Sinister 2 was fifth on the list with its $4.7 million.
