On November 16 the Academy’s fifth annual Governors Awards was held at Hollywood & Highland and the event became an eye-witness to several heart-touching moments. But the most emotional moment arrived with the first award presentation featuring Hollywood diva Angelina Jolie. She is the youngest ever winner of the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, presented on Saturday night.

After an audio-visual of Jolie’s immense global presence was screened, the actress took to the stage thanking her presenters (Bosnian and In the Land of Blood and Honey actors, Gena Rowlands and George Lucas), and her family. In her emotional speech she paid a special tribute to her motherwho first taught her to live “a life of use to others.” Jolie issued a remarkable reminder for her audiences that she is fortunate enough that she is blessed with the basic necessities of life, food, shelter and love and also a way to portray her talents. But there are several people across the globe who possess similar talents but they remain as mere refugees or tortured people with none of the basic amenities. Jolie said, “We are all, every one of us in this room, so fortunate.”
