Delay in release of Ranna, Vajrakaya affects Kannada box office

Delay in release of Ranna, Vajrakaya affects Kannada box office

Harsha’s Vajrakaya and Nanda Kishore’s Ranna are two Sandalwood movies that are creating a tough situation for other filmmakers due to prolonged delay in their release dates. Ranna, which was expected to release in April, was postponed to May because shooting could not complete in time. Now, the movie is stuck getting clearance from the censor board.

On the other hand, Vajrakaya, which is one of the most anticipated movies of the year, is also expected to release late. The Shiv Rajkumar starrer was supposed to release on June 5 but since the movie is not yet censored, the release is expected to delay.  "A two-week gap between two big films is good for the industry. We need every film to succeed”, said Harsha, the director of Vajrakaya.

Talking about how the delay in release of big films will affect the other movies, film publicist Sudheendra Venkatesh said, “There are at least 15 films which are ready to be released. But their release is being postponed week after week due to the two big films. If the two films officially announce they will release in June, at least 10 films will be released in the next two weeks”.
