Beautiful and talented South-Indian actress Harshika Poonacha has been roped in for a Malayalam film titled Charminar. The Coorg girl has already worked in Kannada, Tamil and Telugu projects and now she is heading for her first Malayalam flick. Well, it was sure to happen as the lady not only has acting skills, she is also fluent in almost all South-Indian languages including Tulu, Kodava and Konkani.

Talking about her debut in Mollywood, Harshika said, "Even as my debut Tamil movie Un Kadhal Yerrindhal is yet to release, I have taken up a very special project in Malayalam. I could not have asked for more especially when I was told that the team had auditioned at least 1,500 girls for the role. "It may sound exaggerated but the team was very particular about the girl’s character who had to look good in both Indian and as well hold herself well as a Western super model. Some matched perfectly for the model’s part and others for Indian girl’s character, and hence the search continued. Finally, when someone referred my name along with my portfolio, I fit both the roles, as a pakka desi, geeky looking girl and a model, so they approached me," she further said about her selection.

Harshika also revealed her dreams for Hindi cinema saying that she had been offered to shoot for film of Madhur Bhandarkar and another featuring Sanjay Dutt . But she could not go ahead as she was asked to move her base to Mumbai. The actress was not willing to leave her parents and at the same time wanted to make her presence significant in Kannada cinema.

Her Mollywood flick will be directed by Ajith C Logesh and will have Ashwin Kumar and Hemanth Menon in the lead roles. Harshika will be seen playing character of a Mallu girl in Bengaluru.
