Lagori fame rappers Karthik Gubbi and Tejas Shankar have made the industry proud as their song titled ‘Amma’ has topped the UK charts. The song has been declared as the BBC Radio’s ‘Song of the week’ in the UK. Composed by Amit Anand and conceptualised by Karthik, the track is reportedly a dedicated to mothers.

Karthik, who was quite happy to hear the news, said in a statement, “It was fantastic way to start the week when I came to know that it was aired on the channel's Asian Network. Four of my songs have been featured on the show earlier, but never on the no. 1 spot. The song's concept had been on my mind for a long time; something that germinated when I decided to give up pursuing a career as a mechanical engineer and dive headlong into music. There were so many confrontations that I had with my mother then, without realizing that she was only looking out for me. This is my way of telling her sorry and thanks”.

Tejas, who crooned for the track, said, “Amit was in Glasgow, and the rest of us were busy with our individual productions, but when Karthik approached us with the idea, we got on it right away and finished everything smoothly. I think the very word 'Amma' motivated us to give the song priority”.
