Nidhi Kushalappa was earlier shooting for her Kannada film Preethi Prema when she thought about doing a film like Kumari 21F. She chanced upon a poster of the then just-released Telugu movie, Kumari 21F, which intrigued her. And then only, the actress was offered to the Kannada remake of the same movie.

“There was something about it that really drew me to it and I wished that someday I would get a film like that to be a part of. And just about six months later, I was elated when I got the offer to be a part of the Kannada remake,” says Nidhi.  In the film, Nidhi plays a model, who falls in love with Pranam Devaraj’s character, a small town guy who is easily swayed by what his friends tell him about their perception of her.

Talking about the character she plays in the film, Nidhi says, “I believe that people shouldn’t judge women based on what she does, says or wears and that is the message in Kumari 21F as well. You need to love her for who and what she is”. The film is not a heroine-centric tale. “There is a social message and, hence the title, but Kumari 21F is as much about Pranam’s character as it is about mine,” says Nidhi.
