Pranam Devaraj Wants People To See Him As An Actor And Not Hero

Sriman Vemula is directing the Kannada version of Kumari 21F. And one of the first names that popped up for the cast was that of Pranam Devaraj. Devaraj is a popular name even in Tollywood circles, so his younger son, Pranam was the perfect fit. The director feels that he exuded the right amount of innocence that I envisioned in the lead actor.

Pranam, on this, said, “The plan to launch me in films has been on for a few years and I had got a few offers. There wasn’t any particular kind of script that I was looking at, as I was looking at portraying myself as an actor and not a hero”. He feels that the script of Kumari 21F gave him a lot of confidence as an actor as it had elements of romance, drama and anger. Also, it had been offered to me three times before Sriman, by different people, and I had accepted each time. He even suggested some changes to incorporate action into the narrative, which all the teams accepted, but then never got back to him.

One thing that Pranam was clear about was that he did not want to get started with a full-fledged commercial flick. I was only looking at ensuring that people see me as more than just Devaraj’s son or Prajwal’s brother, and accept me as just Pranam the actor,” he signs off.
