Rachita Ram: I Managed The Mandya Dialect With Sathish’s Help

Rachita Ram was approached by debutant director Mahesh Kumar to be a part of his film Ayogya. The actress was floored by his narration. She was also taken in by the fact that the director promised to bring the story to the screen as he had told her.

“I fell in love with the character, Nandini, who is a bold and beautiful girl. Even though Sathish’s (Ninasam) character tries to woo her, she doesn’t easily fall for love. She is a complete daddy’s girl. All I wanted was for her to be onscreen as she was in the script. Mahesh and DOP Preetham have done that and more and I am very happy with the way I have been portrayed. I am glad that Mahesh considered me for this role”, she says.

This is Rachita’s first film with Sathish and also her first tryst as a Mandya hudugi and her first film with Sathish. “I was a big fan of Sathish and loved his songs, Thinbeda Kami from Lucia as well Opkondubitla Kanla from Love in Mandya. He is from the Mandya belt, so working on this film was a cakewalk for him. I think that he’s best suited to play a character from that region, besides Yash, of course. On the set, I often struggled with the Mandya dialect, but during the 25 days that we shot there, Sathish and Mahesh made sure that I got it right, so much so that I could dub for my portions in record time”, says Rachita.
