Several film personalities have extended help to the poor during the times of crisis in the past. Following their footsteps, Kannada actor Yash has also turned a real hero for the villagers recently. The Sandalwood star has helped the people of draught-ridden Kalaburagi and Vijayapura districts of North Karnataka by supplying water to them.

Yash’s newly found charitable organisation ‘Yashomarga Foundation’ has been supplying water to 15 villages of Kalaburagi since April 27. While initially Yash and his team were able to supply water only once in two days, they are further planning to scale up their operations in near future. The team wants to cover 50 villages in both the draught-hit districts.

“This initiative has been on my mind for a while now. It took me some time to give the idea proper shape and form. Water is a basic necessity and we found that there are several villages across the state that are in urgent need of water. This is a beginning towards ensuring that the basic needs of the poorest of the poor are met,” Yash told Deccan Chronicle.

Yash and his team have surveyed several villages. The data is helping them to pick communities which have shortage of drinking water. “We wish to cover more villages, but it is a mammoth task involving several agencies and once things are in place, we will try to scale it up”, he said. Yash’s foundation, which has been granted income tax exemption, is planning to launch their website soon.
