A team of their own! A 20-minute short film, Her Day, talks about the issues and concerns related to women empowerment. The film co-directed by Deepa P.M has a special message for all women and highlights the need for a girl to defend herself. Being a woman is not an image that society can mould in the parameters of four walls. It demands the recognition of undictated ‘self’ where women are viewed with a lens of individuality which has been denied to them since ages.

According to reports, the film Her Day points out how well girls can equip themselves with self-defence if raised in this 'how-to-be' norm. While talking about the film, the filmmaker Deepa said, “Society knows how to ask why a girl could not fight back a molester, but fails to understand that most of our girls are on a mental arrest. When an unplanned attack happens, a quick impulse, energy to fight or flee does not come.”

There were reports that she further added that a girl or a woman is denied a space where they could learn these life lessons when compared to boys or men, who were given the freedom to equip themselves. The story and screenplay of the film are performed by school children Harsha and Anjali. The camera has been cranked by Prasanna Parvathy. Shylaja Mattannur (costume), Laila Kasargod (music), Ajitha (art direction) and Athira (main character) are the other female participants of the film.
