Another Film On Kunjali Marakkar

Seems like Mollywood filmmakers are fascinated by the story of Kunjali Marakkar and want to bring the story to the screen. Yesterday we reported that filmmaker Priyadarshan is coming up with a film on Kunjali Marakkar with Mohanlal . And now there is one more filmmaker who is making a movie on the same subject.

Now it has come to light that Santosh Sivan is also making a film on the similar subject. The film is titled Kunjali Marakkar-4 and will feature Mammootty. Talking about it, Santosh said, “We will begin the shoot by April–May next year. The casting is still going on and some big names will be acting in the film.”

When asked from Santosh about Mohanlal’s film, he said, “I do not know about that project and anyway, there are four Marakkars in history.” The script of Kunjali Marakkar-4 will be penned by T.P. Rajeevan and Shankar Ramakrishnan. August Cinemas will produce it. If you don’t know Kunjali Marakkar was the title given to the Muslim naval chief of the Zamorin (Samoothiri) in the 16th century. There were four main Kunjalis who played an important part in the Zamorin’s naval wars with the Portuguese from 1502 to 1600.
