Asif Ali roped in for Inspector Dawood Ibrahim

Asif Ali has been roped in to play a cop in the upcoming Malayalam film Inspector Dawood Ibrahim. This movie is the debut movie of Sajid Yahiya and Arouz Irfan, as directors. Both of them penned the script of the movie as well.

Talking of the film and his role in it, Sajid said, “It is a stylish movie about a police officer who is ill-equipped for the job. To begin with, even his name, which is similar to that of the notorious don, makes him a misfit to take up the job of a cop. He is shown as someone who doesn't have the capabilities, but dreams of becoming a police officer”.

Sajid further shared, “The film's name can be abbreviated to IDI (punch in Malayalam). We wanted someone who has not over explored the sphere of action in our industry, to breathe in some freshness into the character”. Other stars such as Saiju Kurup, Balu Varghese and Bineesh Kodiyeri will also feature in this film. The shooting of the film is scheduled to start in December.
