Biju Menon Replaces Mammootty In ‘Leela’

Earlier, it was reported that Mammootty will be playing the lead in director Ranjith’s next titled ‘Leela’. A lot of names have been linked with the project earlier also. And now, again one more name has come forward to play the male lead in the film.

According to reports, Biju Menon has replaced the Varsham actor to play the lead character of Kuttiyappan. Mammootty was replaced because the character of the male lead is extra bold and is beyond his comfort zone. Earlier, the role was offered to Mohanlal, but he turned down the offer due to personal reasons.

The story of the film has been inspired from Unni R's short story of the same title. He himself is writing the dialogues as well as the screenplay. Reports suggest that Rima Kallingal will feature in the flick as the female lead. However, the news has not been confirmed as of now. The movie is expected to go on floors by yearend and will hit the theatre screens by mid 2016.
