Dulquer Salmaan: My Superhero Father Will Never Hurt Anyone's Sentiments

Malayalam cinema, these days, has been discussing much on 'sexism in cinema'. People are questioning the attitudes of senior male stars in the issue. Although Dulquer Salmaan usually keeps himself away from such debates, he has now put in his views over the same. Even actors like Prithviraj declared on his own that there will never be misogyny in his films.

Dulquer Salmaan was recently questioned in an interview and while the actor maintained that he will never 'pick a side'', he also said that he doesn't think that his father will ever hurt anyone's sentiments intentionally. ''I personally know my father; I know how my sister and I have been raised. I know the love and respect with which women are treated in the family and outside. It is harsh to judge him based on cinema or the writing of a movie”, said the actor defending his father.

Moreover, the actor feels that the industry is being divided by gender. He added, "I will never pick a side because someone or the other will be hurt. But with absolute respect for the women actors, all I can do is to ensure that in my films or personally, or in anything I can genuinely influence, I will always put them first. Any female actor who has worked with me would agree. I don't need to say that my movies will never speak this way, for my movies haven't. And they won't”. And later, he concluded, "I completely believe that my superhero father will never hurt anyone's sentiments".
