    Malayalam writer Dr Punathil Kunjabdulla Passed Away

    Dr Punathil Kunjabdulla, who is a renowned writer and novelist in the Mollywood industry had recently died in Kozhikode. Dr Punathil was suffering from old age-ailments, which is said to be the cause of his death on October 20 at 7.40 pm. The veteran writer was 77 –year-old.

    Moreover, his contribution to the Mollywood is remarkable. The writer has penned down many popular short stories like Aligarh Kathakal, Kshethravilakkukal, Malamukalile Abdulla, Kure Sthreekal, Pranaya Kathakal, Kathi and Punathilinte 101 Kathakal. He was well known by the name 'Kunjikka' among his friends. In 2009 the writer also tried his hands at acting in Kadha Parayum Theruvoram and in the documentary film A K G.

    Further, his short stories had been the script for many Mollywood films such as John Paul Vaathil Thurakkunnu, Raamanam, and Katha Parayum. The veteran earlier served as a doctor and later turned to a writer for his interest in the field. He had won prestigious awards like the Kendra Sahithya Akademi Award for his novel Smarakasilakal (Memorial Stones), in the year 1980.
