Taking the concept of social advertisements before movie to another level, Kerela government has produced 10 short films about road safety that will be shown in theatres just like the anti-smoking ads that appear as of now. Superstar Mohanlal has been chosen as the face of the campaign. Actors such as Gayathri Suresh and Anwar have also featured in these films.

Tony Chittettukalam, who has directed these short movies, said in a statement, “In phase-I, the short films of around two minutes duration each will be shown in around 100 theatres, including multiplexes. Soon, the screening will be extended to all theatres in the State. We hope to start screening of the films next week”.

Talking about the campaign, Inspector General of Police, Manoj Abraham, said, “Interestingly, the director has rarely used the traditional shots involving busy roads. We have added value to the quality of the films by using popular actors in them. It will definitely be an eye-opener for the public”. The films are based on themes including drunken driving, seatbelt, helmet, zebra crossing, over-speeding as well as lane traffic.
