    NCW Summons Police Chief, Seeks Report On Kerala Actress Assault Case

    The National Women’s Commission has summoned Director General of Police Loknath Behra to update the board on the steps taken by the Kerala police in the case of abduction and sexual assault of a popular Malayalam actress. The DAG has been asked to present himself personally. Commission Chairperson Lalitha Kumaranmangalam further asked the state police chief to speed up investigation process. 

    Amid the investigation, the theory of rivals’ involvement is also building up. It is being speculated that some may have hired criminals to malign the highly successful career of this actress. Union minister for women and child development, Maneka Gandhi, stated that the Left Front government should be dismissed.

    The politician said, “There is no governance in Kerala. Women and children are at the receiving end. The state is a fit case for President’s rule”. Huge rally was carried in support of the actress, where entire Malayalam industry gathered and staged a peaceful rally in the city.
