It seems like actor Nivin Pauly loves to portray real life heroes on screen. After playing real life characters in Jacobinte Swargarajyam, Sakhaavu and the forthcoming Kayamkulam Kochunni, Nivin will now play freedom fighter and playwright N N Pillai in his next film. The flick will be helmed by Rajeev Ravi.
"It will be a biopic, but will only feature a few episodes of his life rather than encompassing his entire life,” said the director. There were rumours that the film will centre on that phase of Pillai’s life when he was a young soldier with Subash Chandra Bose in the Indian National Army. It was also reported that his days as a theatre artiste will also be shown.
However Rajeev said, "We wouldn't be showing the playwright phase. Also, the revolutionary aspect is not quite fleshed out yet as we are yet to do the research and develop the entire script. So, it's too soon to reveal which particular phases we would be focusing on right now." Pillai campaigned for INA during World War II. He also wrote popular plays such as Eeshwaran Arrestil, Kapalika, Gorilla and Folydol as part of the drama troupe Vishwa Kerala Kala Samithi, which he began in 1952. He is famous for essaying the role of Anjooran in the flick Godfather. The flick will go on floors by the end of 2018.
