Prithviraj Learns Flying Techniques For Vimanam

Actor Prithviraj has been trained to fly a light-weight aircraft for his forthcoming Vimanam. He essays a role of desi mechanic in the film who aspires to fly an aircraft he built. The team has completed the scenes that require the actor to fly the plane in Mangalore.

Talking about flying sequence, Prithviraj tells, "I didn't fly the aircraft for real. But I had to learn about the instrumentation inside an aircraft and what exactly to do while you are piloting one, because the scene required me to act like I knew what I was doing." For the flying sequence, the team had set up a flying yard including a runway adjacent to the sea. "The shoot was adventurous. We had canned the flying sequences with Prithviraj and the actress Durga Krishna. There were also experts with them during the scenes. We could capture some amazing visuals as well," says the film’s director Pradeep Nair.

Vimanam is based on the life of a person, named Saji M Thomas, who can neither talk nor listen. He built an ultra-light aircraft on his own a couple of years ago. Rumours are that Saji even helped the team to build an aircraft as well as acted in a few scenes.
