Rosshan Andrrews is prepping for his upcoming directorial venture Kayamkulam Kochunni , which is based on a popular highwayman Kayamkulam Kochunni who hailed from Kayamkulam, Kerala. Earlier, Rosshan reported that he has cast Nivin Pauly and Amala Paul in the lead roles in the flick. But, now it has come to light that Amala has been replaced by Priya Anand, who made her Mollywood debut with the Prithviraj film Ezra.

Now Priya will play the role of Jankai, which was earlier supposed to be played by Amala. Priya has even started shooting for the flick in Mangalore. "Due to the recent rains, there were a few changes in our schedule and that affected Amala's dates. She is a busy actress in Tamil. That is the only reason Amala had to opt out, and so we brought in Priya Anand and she has already started working on the film,” said the director.

Priya is very happy that she bagged the opportunity to star in the film. The actress was offered three films which she gave up to star in Kayamkulam Kochunni as the movie will take at least four to five months to wrap up. “I have always wanted to do a period film and I was happy when a prestigious project like Kayamkulam Kochunni came my way. What makes it even more special is that it's with some of the biggest names in Malayalam,” she said.
