Thiruvantharapuram Corporation Waivers Entertainment Tax From Kochavva Paulo Ayyappa Coelho

Kochavva Paulo Ayyappa Coelho viewers, there is something which might concern you. Very recently Thiruvantharapuram Corporation has waived off entertainment tax from the film. Although the film is not running in theatres now but almost five months later, the LSGD passed a Government Order announcing the exemption. Well, the sad part is that all those viewers, who incurred the tax constituting 20 per cent of the ticket charges, couldn’t avail the benefit.

Kochavva Paulo Ayyappa Coelho opened in theatres last year in September. Looks like, the producer may benefit from the exemption. Back in 2009, an exemption was announced on Malayalam movie ‘Pazhassi Raja’, the Kerala High Court had issued an interim order to prompt the local bodies to pass on the benefit to the viewers.

However, the local bodies failed to pass on the benefit, to which Deputy Mayor Rakhi Ravikumar said, “I have not checked the date when the Corporation received the Government Order. However, as soon as we get the communication, the file work starts. There are several formalities, before it gets presented before the finance committee, and later the council. The process is time consuming.”
